How is it made anyway?
Have you ever been outside on a hot summer day? I mean when it's over 90 degrees and very humid? Have you ever wanted a nice cold sweet treat to cool you down? Then you know the perfect time for Ice Cream! Ice Cream is a frozen treat often used for dessert, but it's good anytime! It comes in many flavors and has been around a long time.
Ice Cream was invented in 1846 by an American woman named Nancy Johnson. The first commercial factory was opended in 1851 in Baltimore, Maryland by Jacob Fussell. When Italian immigrants came to America, they brought thier love for ice cream, or gelato, with them. They made ice cream more popular in the USA.

Learn how to make ice cream
Everyone loves the classics, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Some countries and people however, like to try new things. In Massachussettes, Ben and Bill's made a lobster flavored ice cream. It was vanilla ice cream with real pieces of lobster meat in it. Some countries try even stranger flavors. In Japan you can buy octopus, horseflesh, cow tongue, and shrimp flavored ice cream. They also have garlic, soy-bean, and kelp flavored for the vegetarians. In Berkshire, you can order sardines or crab on toast flavored ice cream. In Dorset, they came up with a chili flavored ice cream. I think I'll stick to the classics.
